Who can participate in the workshops?
Girls, teenagers, women, and menstruating individuals. Each workshop is oriented and designed according to the age, needs, and context of the participants.
When and where are the workshops organized?
The workshops are organized monthly and in person, in women’s centers, social organizations, community centers, and soon in schools and universities in the city of Montreal.
How do the workshops work with girls and teenagers?
The workshops are a safe, creative, and participatory space for girls and teenagers to understand their bodies, cycles, and menstruation. Prior to each workshop, a talk is held with the parents of the participants to brief them on the workshop’s proposal. The girls’ group ranges from 8 to 12 years old, and the teenagers’ group ranges from 13 to 17 years old.
What activities are carried out during the workshops?
During the workshops, participants engage in playing, crafting, reading, drawing, and writing as activities to reflect upon, feel, and explore regarding their bodies, cycles, and menstruation. Practical demonstrations on reusable and single-use menstrual products are also conducted.
What materials are used in the workshops?
Materials used in the workshops include board games, menstrual literature books for girls and women, lunar calendars, mandalas, zines, reusable and single-use menstrual products, and a 3D model of the uterus.
